A well worn topic but with short sleeve weather looming again it is worth a read, also tactics do change.

Another point, the article says that the ‘Met Police advise owners of luxury watches to photograph and insure them, and register them on the several specialist databases that have sprung up in response to the spate of robberies.’

Odd then it fails to link or name them?

Really sad to hear. But luckily I wear Omega instead. It's an "entry level brand" after all 😁 ::stirthepot::

So stolen watch databases are a great idea and worth comparing serial numbers of any watch you’re buying against.

The databases that ask people to just upload their watch collections though are frankly a bit of a concern, all it takes if for one of them to cut some corners security wise and burglars will have an inventory list of houses to rob.

Many of those watch box type databases also sell information about your collection for targeted marketing purposes.

Exactly! That’s the only reason that I bought all of mine. Theft proof! Who in their right mind would want them!?!
