The newly released 38mm Gallet Classics are better than the new Speedmaster 38mm in just about every way.

  • 38mm diameter, 12.5mm thick with a display caseback
  • 70 hours power reserve from the Breitling B09
  • 10 bars water resistant
  • $6700 USD retail

I'd take any of the three Gallets over any of the Speedmaster 38s

I’d take the original Gallets any day over these as well…

Apples and oranges. Two versus three registers. Manually wound with display back (makes sense) versus Automatic. Strap versus (nice!) bracelet. Surely a hot take. 😉

Another brand revival?

At least it's backed by Breitling so not as bad as some who just bought a name.

In the end it's all 7750 based. But Omega gives you a column wheel and a coaxial escapement.

Frankly, I'm not impressed by Gallet. It looks like a microbrand using a Sellita to mimic the design cues of a defunct brand except it costs twice as much. Which is exactly what it is.

If I saw it at Windup watch fair I'd pick it up, be like, cool but no thanks, and keep walking.

The new Gallet watches use Sellita movements.. While fine, tough to justify for $6,700. Especially when compared to the Omega with a 3332 movement and a really nice bracelet.

Seems like apples and oranges… shocked they are similar in price.

The Gallet would be nice at $2k.

They did a nice job with the re launch. These and Pilot are my faves.

I stand corrected! In that case, it does seem like a solid watch for the money.

I would personally rather go vintage or a used JLC Master Control but a nice watch. I can see the argument for the Gallet over a Speedmaster 38.
