Horrible service

Poor quality of the bracelet. It was stuck on my husband’s hand in locked position without a possibility to remove it. We sent it for the warranty service. But the service turned out to be even worse than the quality of the bracelet. It is already taking them 4 months to fix it with little hope to get it back anytime soon. We paid 5k for the watch just to have them for almost half a year be kept unaddressed and broken at Omega possession.

I am really feeling sad after hearing this. The same incident have also been happened with me. If you have any question, you can ask me.

I recall someone here suggesting to their dealer that only the bracelet be sent in, and the dealer saying the whole watch has to be sent in.

From what I have gathered some people have been able to just send in the bracelet, and others have not been able to convince their SA to do this (or perhaps haven't tried)

They lent him a car though...perhaps the poster would be less frustrated if an alternate similar watch were provided.

So I still wonder what other products would leave the customer out of luck for months.
I don't wanna be an ass or start another debate, I'll only point out your original question was: "is there any other consumer product for $5000 that may be defective, but will take the manufacturer months to fix ???"

So I'll reiterate my first answer: Yes, there are.

And by the way, I totally think you're right about the part where he was lent a care foe the duration of the repair.

Is that common procedure? Got any more information on those watches? Do they lend watches only in Japan?[/QUOTE]

Hublot also has service watches

Well, that's cool!

At least you're not stuck without any way to tell time for the few months your watch is in service! 😉

How many people own a Hublot as their one and only watch? I'd be hard pressed to wear one of those service jobs while my watch was being serviced.

Hublot jokes aside, those “service” watches with text on the dial are hideous. Who would want to look at one of those every day? I’m sure one could find a backup watch to fill in. A $10 F91W would be better.

Also, @BlackTalon called it right. OP never even came back to the site after posting this thread.

Do you miss your husband?
Well, quite - after all these posts I still don't have a scooby how they got the watch off him. Or did they?

Would you, with your husband off at Omega service?

Ha! A Breitling AD must have gotten bored with me, as I had taken a new Navitimer in twice, waited the usual long service time, and was still v unhappy. I bitched about getting a loaner, so he opened up a dusty old bottom drawer and pulled out the shittiest clapped-out watch I’d ever seen. I told him he didn’t want to loan me that. Why not? Because if that’s the best you’re prepared to do, I’ll wear it everyday and tell any who'll listen that yup, this is what the Breitling dealer loaned me. There was an awkward silence. He said pick out any Breitling more expensive than yours, and I’ll give you full credit on your new Navitimer. So, it worked out ok. 😉
