Some manufacturers had their own names for hand styles shown in this post. For example, here's a page from a Hamilton book:

What they call "Open Diamond" has been identified in other publications as "Cathedral".

    Here's some information from Omega:

Ladies and Gentlemen, as you can see this is an unfinished and ever-evolving post. I welcome all comments and examples, and if you disagree with something back up your argument with some evidence.

    Thanks!

Wow, I've never really thought about how many different types there are. Fascinating indeed.

Actually, they're "Pointed Sports" but just not as sporty. ;)

I think this calls for an edit to add this additional name.

By any chance, do you have a full watch pic of the Movado (Cubist)?

Nice thread :) One of the things I really like about collecting Omega clocks are all the different and decorative hand styles they used between the 1920's and 1950's

I absolutely love your 101 threads! Fantastic for a novice like me with so much to learn. I can't possibly remember half of it but will come back time to time to remind myself.

Question: what about the Tudor 'snowflake' hand? Is that covered by one of the above (I missed it somehow)?

Lollipop is covered, but I'll have to look into snowflake (*snicker*) more.

Okay, even if for comic relief that's worth adding.
