Hoping I didn’t make a mistake...

I just received this Seamaster De Ville. 14K Unishell, 563 movement. Buttery smooth and functions correctly. The phosphor is dead as a hammer, to be expected in a 50 + year old watch.

it supposedly isn’t a redial, and the dial looks gorgeous to me. I’m noobish so let me have it. My only other Omega is a 2534.50 I bought in 1999.

Nice pick up. Is that a replacement case back? My understanding is that there should be a hippocampus on the case back.

From my research Omega made this watch in a plain back for inscriptions / award watches as well as the hippocampus. I’ve seen several examples. This is a unishell watch, and the inside has the correct markings. Many of the 60’s plain back unishells I’ve seen are inscribed with some event / occasion and a name; this wasn’t.
If I’m wrong, correct me. I’m here to learn.

I should've avoided the use of the word "replacement" and instead said "alternative". And yes, I've seen those examples as well for inscriptions/awards etc

Whew. I’d have been disappointed to find out that I missed a super-obvious tell. I must have looked at 100 watches looking for this one. Checked the serial numbers etc., and made sure the movement worked properly.
The quick-set procedure for setting the date was new to me.
