My nephew needs a new crystal for his 1960s Omega. Does anyone have any recommendations. I’ve advised against the local OB!

Same address as @stefman , Michael Young at classicwatchrepair is the man when you need to repair a watch in HK

I've heard some negative stories about that place. Have also heard some good ones as well. Just be cautious.

And he will not have an original crystal, would probably be possible to buy one from Otto frei and have him install it

I’ve heard some of these too but I personally sent a jubilee bracelet to him and it was fixed perfectly in a reasonable amount of time. They responded promptly to emails and the price was reasonable.

I've never heard a bad word about their bracelet repair and would happily take a bracelet to them. But I live in HK and get my watches serviced overseas.

I had sent my 1039 bracelet to Michael to be restored as it had links which were stretched out. No complaints here, he is well known for bracelet restoration but not sure about other services.

Michael Young is definitely one of the better options available in HK for vintage repair and restoration. Your nephew could also go to Ching Kuok Watch Service. IMO, probably the better option for a simple repair like this. But (as Shaun HK said) I don't think either will have access to original Omega crystals.
