50 years ago, June 3, 1965, Gemini 4 Astronaut Ed White became the first American to "walk" in space. On his wrist was his Omega Speedmaster 105.003.
Nice share! little did he know the 105.003 would be forever associated with his name. and fought for. when in all original condition.
Great post... 50 years ago, unreal. I sure hope NASA (and possibly Omega) do something worthy of these two heroes to remember this mission. I have my own tribute planned as well, with an incoming. I'm starting to see tributes pop up, and would expect something on NASA's website tomorrow. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/first-us-s...t-ed-white-stepped-into-void-gemini-4-1504072 http://www.space.com/29548-first-american-spacewalk-photos.html
Great post @Gemini4, and a nice collection to boot! I was unable to find a 105.003 in time, but I will celebrate by admiring yours. Now, where is @TLIGuy?
Hello all: I just posted an intro in the open forum. Wanted to share my Ed White together with its 105.012-65 brother.
Dibs, please on your .012... whenever you're ready! 105.003, the one that I thought I had... but it just wasn't to be... Perhaps one day . What a day in history, 50 years ago... I love this thread, beautiful!
I have a box filled with old NASA publications and related Life magazines that I haven't looked at since 1970 ... you've inspired me to go dig through it. Thanks! Here's what I've been wearing all week while sorta-orbiting the Earth at 35,000 All best, -Ez
