At a certain point, the sloppiness just gets depressing. You just burn out on this stuff. Everyone has seen the hodinkee-offered A386 with box and papers. https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/...n=vintage&mc_cid=49d3ca1793&mc_eid=906e1a5eeb From the description: "this example is accompanied by its original red fitted presentation box and guarantee booklet." Guarantee booklet is below. "Numero della Cassa" means case number (I don't think you need a proficient knowledge of Italian to figure that out). The case number on the watch is 923D301.
Looks like the number on the booklet isn't even the same convention as the number on the case - so is it from a different model line entirely? (I know nothing about Zenith)
No comment but on the hodinkee gaffe scale this is pretty tame. I mean, it is actually an a386 and the guarantee booklet is from zenith. I was expecting a Franken ..
Zenith changed their serial numbers in the mid 1970s from the format on the back of the watch to the format on the booklet. And in fact, the number on the booklet is part reference number, part serial number.
Watch we threw together with a box and a guarantee booklet so we can charge the premium for a 'full set.'
