This crossed my path today and being a big Constellation fan it was a no brainer that it would be coming directly home with me! A nice 18kt YG 2652 cal 354 with a 13.7 million serial dating from around 1952 but what makes it a touch more exotic is the seldom seen `hobnail` textured dial in salmon and gold
You don't see many of them around. Love how the center of those dials ages into that light salmon color!
I think that could be the original color. These two-tone dials were painted in the middle in shades of pastel colors. Mine is light grey. gatorcpa
On bog standard watches that pattern is called hobnail. On this beauty it must only be referred to as "Clous de Paris".
Damn, I've been hunting for one of these hobnail Constellations for a long time. Yeah, wish it was mine but I'm happy for you. The dial looks to be in great condition too. Really, really nice find. My time will come (I hope) but go ahead and my name to the DIBS list just in case. A long shot but I can dream...
It most certainly is, but I enjoy wearing it as is until I get around to correcting the problems. It was just a dial and mainplate when I purchased it. I thought I'd give it a second life on my wrist.
