Hi this is my omega 2179 /4 I’m not sure the hands are original . I got this from a boot sale for £8

    the hands are very wrong - should have luminous Radium hands of course - but hey it is still a steal at 8 GBP

    Sorry I meant got it working properly as it worked with a shake and had the case polished. Was that expensive ? Someone got it done for me
    i didn’t know what it was till I got it back and saw the ref no .i know more now !

    In general, it is best to leave vintage watch cases unpolished regardless of the reference.

    It is OK, it is already done. Just enjoy the watch :thumbsup:

    Here's a shot of what the hands look like.
    Mine's a U.S. Army 2179/2 but I believe the hands would be the same.

    You can get them from donor watches but the cost! Maybe something else could turn up, but in the meantime.......

    It will not be an easy task to source the hands, but not impossible. I agree the most direct but not cheapest way is to get an old donor watch with decent hands. £400 sounds a bit pricey for a service but depends on what they had to do and potential parts that were replaced. At £8 it was a cheap buy, but the costs quickly add up.

    A friend works in Hatton garden so he took it in to some one he knows ! When I brought it I just thought it was an old omega didn’t know anything about it just liked the look of it . I wished I knew more before I had the work done
