    Hi All,

I’m hoping that somebody can identify this Heuer Chronograph that I just acquired. What I know is that the movement is a Valjoux 22 and the seller said it was from the 50s. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Michael

If I were you I'd head over to the On The Dash or Caliber 11 forums. Plenty of Heuer experts there that I'm sure would be delighted to give you the lowdown.

Did that come from chronoaddict / vintage_chronos by any chance?

The good news is that it can be returned...

    Care to elaborate?

Fairly strong signs of a redial. The outer tracks don’t line up.

I'm not sure it's a redial - as in, not sure there was ever a dial that looked like that...

There's no sign of anything similar that a cursory sweep of http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronographs/ could bring up.
And the movement shot looks like a little like a hybrid of others, too, IMO - compare to the shot of the A&F Seafarer Valjoux 71 on http://www.onthedash.com/movements.shtml, but with the bridge from the Valjoux 23 from Reference 404.

Q: isn't the serial number stamped on the inside case back awfully crisp for a 60+ year old watch?

I came to the same conclusion about the dial after searching onthedash and calibre11. Good point about the movement. Regarding the serial number, hadn't thought about that. Between the dial and the movement that's more than enough info to return it. Live and learn!

Well: to start with. The Heuer sign in both the bridge and the caseback is dodgy. The serial in the caseback is an incorrect font.

It might be the pic but the E's don't seem to line up with the edges (which they should)
