Hey folks just wanna share this piece and what do you think of it? I walked in to one of the newest Tag Heuer Boutique well the first boutique opened in my local area and saw this heuer carrera 160th anniversary in flesh. It has almost like tropical color hour markers comes in 39mm with calibre heuer02 aka CH80. Im not sure if there is a thread about this but more than happy to move. Cheers

I like it very much - boutique called me they got one for me and I am really looking forward to see it on my wrist to decide.

On one hand it鈥檚 another reedition / on another hand, it鈥檚 much more to it with the manufacture automatic movement and finally a decent size in 39mm.

how about the thickness? I am a bit afraid of the increased thickness due to an automatic caliber. Hope it doesn鈥檛 look too fat in real.

Looking forward, really looking forward 馃榾

Photos below from TAG site. That nearly orange/ochre lume draws in my eyes before I see the silver dial and hands, which is a pity. The lume in OPs photo isn't as in-your-face - not sure whether that's the camera angle and reflected shop lighting, and maybe in real 39mm life the lume isn't as obvious. Otherwise really like this and, switched to a black rally strap, probably even better.

I think it's great! I received mine about a month ago 馃榿

My only problem with it is that the "glassbox" sapphire crystal that TAG uses, is mounted above the chapter ring (instead of around it, as the originals were) and this causes the chapter ring to essentially disappear when viewed head-on. You can see the effect on the lower portion of the dial in my photos above. It's unfortunate but it does detract a little bit from the enjoyment of the watch - however, not enough to sink it for me. Beautiful dial!

Personally I really like that it's been upsized to a slightly more modern 39mm, without going to the usual 42mm+ that TAG loves so much.

Thickness is not bad at all!

Think you mean the Calibre11 TAG Heuer forum, where there's also quite a bit of Heuer enthusiasm. Same login and all!
OTD is all vintage Heuer, but not associated with OF.

See photos above, in person the lume is noticeably "vintage" but certainly not as orangey or overpowering as the renders. In my opinion it works really well, and lots better than white lume would have.

The strap is far better quality than TAGs of late have been, but I do agree that a rally strap would have been better. I would go with a replica Corfam probably, because the slightly shiny lustre of the alligator does work with the watch IMO.

I think it looks great but a bit beyond my watch budget for the year so went a slightly different route that I hope to have early next week.

I do it like a lot better then the Montreal inspired one that seems a bit much on the colors. Do wish they would do a plexi crystal to fix the issu abrod520 points out but imagine that would hurt demand for non-collectors.

For me this a good direction for TAG Heuer..

Hope they continue this path.

Trust me, if @abrod520 says it's a good TAG then it's a good TAG! Man knows his Heuers!

lol there aren't many of those... TAG tantalizes us with watches like this every now and then, and then goes right back to making 44mm monstrosities. But I am always happy to give credit where credit is due!

I hoped so too, but things aren't looking that way - not this year, at least.

I saw the watch on this youtube video as a recommended model, and thought "that's the type of watch for me". But since I have a Speedmaster, I don't need another chronograph.

What do you mean it died? There鈥檚 a warranty on a 6 mth old watch.

No longer keeps time. Won鈥檛 store energy, either from crown winding or from winder. Tag service center is closed for 4 months. I think they just reopened.
My local watch maker won鈥檛 touch H02 movement since he doesn鈥檛 have parts account with Tag.

The in-house movement has had a slightly bumpy ride, but then most do. These don't have a 100% failure rate like the Tudor GMT does, for instance.

No, your local watchmakers won't be able to work on these - it's not just a matter of parts but also possibly needing training on how to properly disassemble it etc. depending on design. If you keep working with TAG on when they open up, I'm sure they'll happily take care of it for you.

Thanks Abrod. I have an Autavia chrono, also running H02 movement.
Do you think I can swap its movement to my Carrera Fragment and send in the Autavia for service? The Fragment is limited 500 pcs. I want to eliminate risk of shipping it to Tag Service, in NJ. Both watches carry full warranty.

Besides the inadvisability of trying to figure out how to swap dials and hands on these watches, you'd also void the warranty for both.

My suggestion is, take many photos of the condition of your Fragment, and send it directly to TAG via the service link on their website. Insure it yourself though if possible.
