Hi, 1163 Cal. 11 or 11630 Cal. 12 What are you thoughts and opinions. Any advice, knowledge, facts or any other general info wanted...this watch is growing on me a bit and wanted to get some thoughts. Thanks Guys!!
Hi there, I'm also interested, but for a more modern Monaco CAW211C. Do you think that for the modern versions they made both calibres equal in terms of quality? Leaving the only difference of crown position?
Several good resources on this. Here,s one. http://www.vintageheuerautavia.com/home/4571943572 just reminder, Cal 11, 12, 13, whatever gets the job done. Regards, bill
The two models are quite different- especially the case. The 11630 case is thicker and larger than the 1163 and has different pusher positions- you can see the pushers from the front of the case on the 1163, but not the 11630. The 1163 has a raised crystal, while the glass sits flush with the bezel on the 11630. Many/ most of the 1163 Autavias used a Calibre 12 rather than Calibre 11, and agree with Dennis that the Cal. 12 is the better choice (although if you want to get technical, there was a Calibre 11-I movement that bridged the gap between the 11 and the 12 and has many of the improvements of the Calibre 12). In terms of the modern movements, the Calibre 11 (Sellita Sw300 with Dubois Depraz 2006 module) and Calibre 12 (Sellita Sw300 with Dubois Depraz 2008 module) movements are basically the same, expect for the crown position. dc
This means that a "new" calibre 11 has nothing to do with a vintage calibre 11? BTW it is kind of funny that you are posting dc because I blame this post over at calibre11 http://www.calibre11.com/review-2011-tag-heuer-monaco-twenty-four-racing/ for wanting a CAW211C badly now...there's something about the color combo which just pops in the pictures.
hah, don't blame me....all care, no responsibility! Correct- modern Calibre 11 and 12 have nothing to do with the vintage versions (although Dubois Depraz make the chronograph module for both the original and the new) dc
