Dial: Excellent glossy black dial free of any blemishes. Gray subdials. Original tritium lume on hands and hour markers. Lume loss on several hour markers. Lume cracking on hands. Visible loose lume debris inside the dial.
Bezel / Insert: Rotating bezel is in excellent condition and clicks into position perfectly. Glossy black ‘Minute / Hour’ insert with very minor blemishes at ‘10’ and between ‘45 - 50.’ Tritium pearl is original and shows nice patina.
Movement: Caliber 12, Automatic
Case / Crown / Pushers: Beefy tonneau-shaped case measures 42mm in diameter and is 15mm thick. Lug width is 20mm. Extremely well preserved case lines and deep factory brushed finish. The case has never been polished. Original Heuer crown and pushers.
Crystal: Mineral
Bracelet: Heuer signed, stainless steel heavy link bracelet with fliplock clasp
Accessories: None
Condition: This Heuer Autavia 11630MH has been worn (see the condition of the lume) but is very well preserved (the condition of the case is incredible). The watch is in all-original condition. A clear plastic sticker is still present on the caseback. Without the presence of watchmaker’s marks inside the caseback, it’s possible that the watch has never been serviced. Although keeping accurate time, a movement service should be considered in the near term.
Comments: Heuer introduced the third generation Autavia line (References 1163, 11063 and 11630) in 1972; they’re the coda to the golden age Heuer sportswatches, spanning from 1962 to early 1980s. Regardless of which era a Heuer Autavia originates, aesthetically they all look like they could have been designed today. This 11630MH in particular, has the dial design and wrist presence that feels very contemporary, yet its vintage status connects it to heyday of the purpose-built watch.
