Hesalite surface scratches on new Speedy already

I've noticed super light surface scratching on my hesalite crystal already and I have not hit the watch on anything...yet. The watch is a brand new Speedy Tuesday been on the wrist only a handful of times, so I'm curious to see if you hesalite owners out there have noticed light scratches. Is it possible that my clothes rubbing on the crystal are causing marks?

yeah it happens, hesalite scratches really easily. They’ll just show up randomly. if it really bothers you, you can use polywatch once in a while

Generally, except for really bad scratches, lighter ones become less pronounced as you wear the watch, and as you acquire new scratches. It’s as if they almost polish themselves away. It’s going to happen.

It only slightly bothers me but really surprised that shirt cuff would scratch it. I knew it scratched easily but man that is something else.

It's rare for me to use Polywatch, but I have it if I need it. I don't experience the same issue you report.

Yeah I was just surprised because of how new it was. My 176.007 Seamaster is hesalite of course and I’m use to seeing light scratches but I always thought that was due to the age.

Thanks! I got so lucky that my OB was able to get the last one in the US. Somehow they had one “laying” around. So didn’t get hit with inflation

Starched cuffs are notorious for scratching Hesalite crystals, see the example below.

That's why this wearer would never entertain a Speedmaster, and now sticks to sapphire crystals.

Yeah I don't have starched cuffs. Just a bomber jacket or a sweater sleeve. Oh well, comes with the territory. I still prefer the hesalite speedy to the sapphire. Dat dome!

2years of regular rotation and only one scuff from hitting my gf’s watch.

Why does she have to walk so close to me and wear her watch on her right hand!!!!!!

Ouch, that sucks. Gotta walk on her other side to avoid that. That’s what I do

Also, just to be clear. I haven’t hit the hesalite on anything yet. This has to be from clothing if that is even possible.

She’s right handed I firmly believe she’s in the wrong and wears it on the wrong wrist! She did it right after I got it it too! Great little birthyear 145.022-76.

I used to use polywatch a lot for my Speedmaster as the scratches drove me crazy. I switched to these and haven't looked back. I know some people don't like protectors, but its saved me a couple times.

I fail to see how scratches on a fairly new watch can be such a problem for you. Mine is 28 years old, and has never had the crystal polished. Mind you, this one is not a watch I wear every day. You need to take a really close look at the environment the watch is worn in, and come to a conclusion about what you are doing to scratch your crystal.

Hesalite gets scratched if you breathe on it. It has a nice charm to it. If it is that much of a problem, you should stick with sapphire next time!

You can scuff them on a jeans rivet tucking in a shirt. You can scratch them reaching in your jacket pocket on the zipper. I put a hell of a scuff on mine by basing it against a plastic table while covered with the cuff of my shirt...got it polished out though.
