Polywatch isn't exactly aggressive

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I'd heard otherwise somewhere else, but either way I don't think I'm gonna be attempting this myself anytime soon.

Please post pics with before and after as I'm considering the same maneuver. Thank you.

Thanks for that, very helpful post, contributed a lot to the thread. You should feel very good about yourself. If he wants to try it and help others who also may want to try it, why not try to help people out?
Or we can all just stick our watches in airtight, dust proof, light blocking capsules and bury them underground in a bunker surrounded by a moat filled with sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads. How about that?

No need to be upset--that was posted tongue-in-cheek 馃榾

Laser-equipped sharks? That's crazy. Laser-cats are the best.

No worries, just a little sleep deprived now with a 2 year old and a 1 month old. Thought I kept it a little light too with the Austin Powers reference.

The only things I remember from the AP-trilogy are "yeah baby" and "get in my belly".

Dr Evil's underground layer, all he wanted was "sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads."

a sized rubberband! Good idea! Won't work if you've got marks on the side of the hesalite, but +1 for thinking outside the box.

Got the Polywatch this afternoon. Did some experimenting first with an old badly marked crystal I have. This gave me a good feel for how abrasive the Polywatch is before touching the watch.

the old experiment crystal before......masked off one half for comparison

After some patient polishing....removed the masking to see the comparison

Then cleaned up the other side ......not bad result.

Not so tricky with the crystal removed from the watch.

Now for the tricky bit....used an elastic band to protect the bezel from the masking tape. Using masking tape and hole punch made a mask to only expose the part for polishing. Very happy with the result. I found Polywatch is not at all abrasive but that's not a bad thing just needs patience. I polished for 1min at a time in circular motion and then checked the progress. Polished for ~5mins in total.

Great job! This is one of the reasons I like hesalite so much. Sure it scratches easier, but removing the scratches is not just easy, it's actually kind of fun 馃槈

In a pinch, old-school white toothpaste will do the trick also. I try to limit this method to cheaper (or other people's) watches though.

Thanks for doing this. I'll be getting some polywatch for my own stuff.

And best of all, when you're licking the watch it has a slightly minty taste!
