If I were betting, I'd have my money on the kid teasing the squirrels instead of actually feeding them.

Park squirrels are wild animals with sharp teeth. Hard for them to tell the difference between a peanut and the tips of your fingers without training.

Shame on that kid's parents for not teaching him that.

My dog dislikes both. Growls at kids, kills squirrels. Won't eat either. Just wants them gone.

The old FG75 is probably worth as much now as when new. (1972)
My parents were afraid they'd spent too much on it. Amortize $80-$125 (I'm guessing) over how many years?
Buy excellent now, no regrets later.:)

My '72 Yamaha trumpet cost my Dad $225, I guess a fortune then.

You could rent to own for about $15 week. In case the lessons didn't take I guess.
