Oops, sorry, perhaps this should go in the 'recommended Longines eBay' thread...

Man, yours is much nicer! One would be a fool, no doubt, to buy the eBay flyback, when they can have yours for much less!

    I agree wholeheartedly.

Although, if there's a seller to trust on eBay, I would trust 'fabsuisse'. He sold me a beautiful Arrowhead Connie a few weeks ago. I was just checking out some of his when I ran across this one, but you've got him beat 'hands down' with yours!

Just realized the ΩF watch is not yours, but David's! (Modest_Proposal), my bad! I bought my first Longines from David only 1 1/2 weeks ago, and it was a just-as-described beauty...

Apologies on that listing - it sold about two weeks ago. I've updated it. :)

I don´t think, that both watches are comparable. 30CH-waterproofs are much rarer (even in 14k-case with snap on back) than non-waterproof 30CHs. and not everybody likes rolled gold - otherwise non-waterproof 30CHs are bigger, so it´s perhaps a matter of taste, especially regarding the state of the dials.
i´d (try to) look for a cheap redialed 18k-non-waterproof 30CH, swap dial + movement + sell the rest...

    regards - h.u.

So you'd rather make 2 frankens out of 2 original watches?

In case of a 13zn: yes, because it is too difficult to find a watch beeing correct in all 3 pieces (dial, case, mvmt) for an affordable price. in case of 30ch, you´re right. It would be better to buy a 3rd one: 18k case with a beautiful dial like the rolled-gold-one has. or one like this:

It has been cheaper, than the fabsuisse-exemplar...

If you look closely at the OP's posted auction, you'll notice the watch has a snap back case, not a screw down. So the "water-proof" statement, it seems, is misinformation.

Respecting Longines (and the most other brands) Terms: waterproof = round pushers. You can also find steel-cased Longines chronographs with the label "waterproof" and snap-back.

    Ah.

Respectfully, I wouldn't go so far as to call round pusher chronographs waterproof. They certainly are more moisture resistant - and maybe at the time of production some companies marketed them as "waterproof" by comparing them to square pushers, but I think the term today is largely used for screw back cases - even for vintage watches. A snapback case is never going to be truly waterproof, I think.

I had noticed that the Longines you posted had a screw down case and assumed you had made a visual mistake with the OP's watch.

Maybe somebody else can chime in and clarify this for us?
