Service crown isn't great, and the case is a tad bit on the over- side of polishing, but the dial is one of the less-nasty ones we've seen on eBay recently and the hands look OK. Bezel's passable too. I'd say it hits US 12k since it's a UK auction, and those tend to bring high prices. EDIT: Bear in mind this is just one fool's assessment
This is probably the nicest that I've seen up for sale in a long while. Lugs have seen a polishing wheel, but that's nearly unavoidable. Other than that and the crown (which I don't care about), this thing checks a lot of boxes for me. Would not be surprised to see this go north of $11.5K, especially since it's bound to have a lot of eyes on it.
First, no disrespect to the honorable seller - whom I admire and enjoy my previous purchases. If you buy the seller, as you should, he is a good one. It is a watch that three years ago might not have exited the interest it does today - because at that time there were three or four examples of this reference on the market at any one time, and this one would have been in the bottom third, quality-wise. Dial, close spaced T's, AML, fair amount of lume on plots. Mark on hour subdial, and also minute subdial. damage to edge at T marks, not bad. Hand: Service replacements, not in keeping with era. Crown : As above Pushers: Probably service, look clean, and newer design Bezel: Poor example of DO90 with damage, signs or repair, and layout problems (See 90 cuttoff). Case: Good, polished, not overly. Back has possible been lathed. Its just the right side of acceptable to me. However we are well into the realms of buying what is available, rather than turning away from it hoping to find a better one soon. It is what it is. A fairly honest example that has had some service work done in a way that we would not do today - and this of course is reversible. What is not is the state of the dial and bezel. I don't think that will stop a buyer paying 10k for it, and frankly in this market, I would not sell one of mine for that so who am I to say it is too high? Here is the competition - now this is awful, the dial looking like it spent 20 years in a scrap drawer. (Bezel is nice though!) http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-Vinta...054673?hash=item41a4c20bd1:g:OjAAAOSwe7BWwn02Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network see below
I reckon $12,500 - as pointed out this is a UK sterling auction - and they often get more inside the 20% vat zone.
Sh@t i forgot about the hodinkee bump...., but realistically without bracelet and the ok ish bezel, 5 figures is getting up there
Even though it has 65 watchers at the time of this post, i'm going $9500 because Space has shared his assessment (accurate IMHO) and there are really only 64 potential bidders (I'm watching but not bidding).
Nice catch, it could be the lighting, be looking at all the pictures it seems the bezel has been painted from 72 to 110.
