Help with vintage seamaster

Hey guys, I am about to buy my first vintage watch, and would love to get some feedback / suggestions about a watch I have found and consider buyinh.

The watch is a 1962 Seamaster 30 with a manual cal. 286 and with a (in my opinion) very pretty dial.

The watch is newly serviced and according to the private seller also goes well.

However, the watch comes with a unoriginal crown and unoriginal bracelet and no documentation of the watch (but with documentation of the service)

The watch comes for a price of approximately 750 USD.

Do you think it is a fair price, or should I try to press the price further down?

Furthermore, I want to ask if there is something that I (as being new to vintage watches) may have overlooked?

You may have overlooked the need for decent photos, the ones you provided are too small for anyone to be able to offer reasoned judgement.

Black dial watches are very popular at the moment, not so much in their day so a very good shot of the dial is needed.

From the miniscule shots provided you may be on to a nice watch, but proper shots will tell the story.

Thanks for pointing it out. I have edited the original post and put in the "real" pictures.

I'm guessing your from Denmark? These photos look like those of a well-known seller from here. Personally, I wouldn't go for this, but there probably aren't anything "wrong" with the watch as such. He does sell rather common references pretty expensively, but I haven't heard anyone complaining about him.

That´s right, I am from Denmark. I also agree with you, that this watch, being sold for approximately 5.200 DKK/ 750 USD is rather expensive. I thought the price-premium was caused by the special dial. What would you suggest would be an approriate price for this watch?

I do not see how anyone can possibly judge if that black dial is original or repainted from the photo currently shown above. The vast majority of black dials on older Seamasters are repainted and thus worth very little. I am not saying that this dial is not original, but it would be a brave person who buys this watch on the basis of that photo. The seller has taken a close-up shot of the side of the watch and full-on shots of the back and the movement. Why is there no full-on shot of the dial?

He is usually a pretty good seller, I would be surprised if he was selling a refinished dial without mentioning it.

Well, knowing how good he is at moving his stock, I wouldn't be surprised if it sold at roughly that amount. I would personally look for a watch with a better case, as this one is too knackered for my tastes.

It looks legit - but hard to be sure with the pic of the dial. Movement looks good. But too expansive, except maybe if the watch has been serviced.

I woul pass, unless you really want a black dial on an old Seamaster.
