    Hi!
My name is Ed. This is my first Omega watch. My other watches are Seiko 5’s and I’m new to this watch collecting. I’ve always wanted a vintage Omega and I found this one. I was reading and watching whatever I could find on the Seamaster Deville. So at this one site it states that Seamaster wasn’t added to the dial of the Seamaster De Ville until 1963. https://www.swisswatchexpo.com/TheWatchClub/2017/05/07/the-history-of-the-omega-de-ville/
Am I reading that correctly? Is this really a Seamaster de Ville? Authentic? I purchased this one thinking I found a good example I really liked. But I’m having doubts if this is the correct case back? I haven’t taken to Jewler to have it opened yet. I purchased on eBay from a Pawn shop seller. I don’t know. Looked good. So here it is. Any information you could help me with is greatly appreciated!

It would really help to see photos of the inside and of the movement. The case looks like a front-loader, i.e. the back doesn't come off.

By the way, I don't understand why that website is making you concerned. Your dial doesn't say "Seamaster" and you don't know the year it was made.

Looks pretty good to me, but yes as Dan S said, providing a picture of the movement and inside of the case will help us date the watch and hopefully put your worries to bed.

Someone has transplanted the dial and likely the movement from another watch. DE VILLE only does not belong in a Seamaster case.

A DE VILLE should have a plain back case with slightly shorter lugs.

A Seamaster DE VILLE is a different watch than a DE VILLE. That website doesn't have the story right.

BTW, the case has been polished to death.

    Bottom line franken watch, sorry.

    Hi,
Thanks for the info. I’ll post what I find out from the watch shop. Either way I’ll keep it. It was only $260.

Great knowledge. I’ll make a note of this in the back of my head.

OP you still have an aesthetic watch. You’re not a collector, so collector value is probably not your priority in a watch - you’ve paid a nominal price for a watch that clearly caught your eye.

If you enjoy it on your wrist, then it’s a great purchase,

If, however, you are looking for an authentic piece with collector value, spend some time on here and do your research. $270 isn’t going to get you a lot of watch if you are looking for a genuine piece in good condition.

Post future finds here, comment and evaluate them. The community will then chime in and provide validation.

Thanks. Your right. Im not a serious collector nor got it for investment purposes I save that for my Golden and Silver age comics. :) I just wanted something nice looking that was vintage. A watch that was more unique than the new watches everyone else is wearing.
