Hey everyone -- now I begin a quest for a black-dialed vintage Seamaster. 😀

I'm considering this 14389-62 and would like to ask for some help with vetting. I'll give my assessment in the following, but my main questions are:

(*) Is the dial original?
(*) Does anything about the condition of the case and/or movement put you off?

Dial: everything looks correct to me. The text is well-aligned and compares favorably against a nice example from the forum (another variant, photos of text below). The minute track and subdial cross are pretty fine and even. Some light damage throughout; perhaps highlighted between 2 and 3.

Case: some rounding on the corners of the lugs, but otherwise relatively sharp.
Hands: correct dauphine hands. Some oxidation on the small second hand.
Crown: might be correct. Appears to at least be the right style.
Movement: cal 268 with serial that dates to ~1961. Looks fairly clean to me, but some degradation of the copper plating?

As always, thanks for your time.

Black dials are a minefield...IMO looks OK. The rest, you have summarized pretty well.

Looks good to me also. Hard to find a vintage black Omega dial in this state of preservation.

The difference in color on the movement could be anything from lighting to the balance assembly being replaced.

In the end it comes down to price vs. value to you.

OK, thanks for weighing in. I think I'll be patient on this front.
