Hi everyone,

I recently came across an Omega Constellation pie pan and would really appreciate your help with a valuation and originality check. I’ve attached detailed photos of the dial, case, movement, and caseback.

Details:

  • Reference: 2852 / 10 SC
  • Movement: Cal. 505 (appears correct for the reference)
  • Case: Gold-capped
  • Dial: Pie pan with arrowhead markers, seems original with patina and spotting
  • Size: 35 mm
  • Strap: Aftermarket
  • Condition: Runs at about -15 sec/day (likely needs a service)
  • No known service history

The movement and caseback numbers seem to match the reference, but I’d love confirmation from the experts here to make sure it’s not a franken.

Questions:

  1. Does everything look original/authentic for this reference?
  2. Is the dial consistent with known original variants of the 2852?
  3. What would be a fair market value in the current condition (with the patina and the need for service)? It is posted for $1500 shipped or best offer
  4. Any major issues I should be aware of?

I really appreciate any insight. This one has a lot of charm, but I want to be sure I’m evaluating it correctly before moving forward. Thanks in advance!

Wrong crown, wrong seconds hand, the dial is not in good condition and has what looks to be also water staining around the 2 and 3 o'clock indices, although hard to tell from those terrible over exposed photo's ( terrible for a reason? ) It could have also have had a cleaning attempt as the minute indices in the same region look faded.

It would be a big pass for me at $1500 and I wouldn't recommend that you buy it at any price over $750 as I don't think think it would be satisfying to wear. At $750 at least you could say that you own a 505 piepan.

Yes, dial cleaned IMO. I’d hold out if you can, though a nice one will likely cost you over $1500.

Thank you for your insight. With your guidance, I'll pass on it.

I wouldn't even touch it. I've learned if u buy a nice watch, don't buy one because it's cheap, buy it because it's a nice example. Could have a bunch of stuff you don't know about under the hood.

Agreed, its a very rough example indeed, doesn't look aesthetically pleasing at all

The problem with all of the poor example pie-pan Constellations is that the price never reflects the condition. I'd love to pick up a $600 ugly duckling but it will never happen.
