Hi All. I am considering the purchase Turler branded chronograph from the 40s-50s. Photo below.

The seller was told when he purchased it that it was made by Heuer... To me it has some similarities to UG chronographs of the era. Just calling on the expertise of the board for opinions as to whether UG may have manufactured this piece.

    many thanks!

    -36mm
    -unsigned valjoux 92 movement
    -unsigned crown
-inside caseback reads 'acier inoxydable staybright' swiss made with a serial number just over 100,000.

Unsigned is not made by Heuer I guess

With watches that are not "double branded", such as this one, it was simply a matter of the retailer sourcing parts and finishing the watches in-house. So, even if the watch featured a movement used by Heuer, it would not have been "made" by Heuer.

interesting... thanks. I was wondering if Turler could be doing something like this.

the bridge of the movement on this piece simply has '17 rubis' on it...

the dial has some strong similarities to some UG and Heuer chronos of the era... but with some subtle differences.

yeah - i like it quite a bit, too.

i'm not sure what short money is exactly... hahaha... honestly, i'm having a hard time coming up with a fair value.

Nice-looking piece, what is the size? I think you would just buy it at the no-name price.

I think it means not much as in cheap. Nice looking watch. I like the larger sub dials that I’ve seen on the Heuer brand. Nice patina too

yeah - figured short money meant cheap... just that 'short money' can mean quite different things to different people.

I think it is a good quality piece... movement looks good, case and dial are in nice condition.

I know it is not UG... but i wanted to update the thread with some pictures. I made a deal to purchase the watch. If anyone can provide any further insights on this one I would appreciate it.

I have requested some information for Turler... but not sure if it will be forthcoming.

Türler, in contrast to another well-known Swiss retailer, Gübelin, often did not finish their house branded watches particularly well. However, even setting aside the spartan finish, I do wonder a bit about that movement. Also, the case is unsigned.

It may well be fully original, as I believe that the dial to be properly signed, and the case appears to be of good quality, but it would be comforting to receive confirmation from Türler.

could anyone tell me if the Turler has a 'Spillman' case? I see see 'Spillman' cases mentioned in listings but i'm not sure how to identify one. Thanks!
