Hello, I have held this Ed White Speedy and hoped to get it vetted by this excellent community. I dig the sub-40mm size for my tiny wrist, and love this Speedy's patina.

    Thank you!

My vote: relume. It does look nice, so if you can live with that (and I am no expert, I may be wrong) it all boils down to price...

Edit : further than that, there are spots on the dial (i am sure you saw them), the crown is a service replacement (and the pushers may as well be too), and the case is a bit polished...but it is a rare -63 (think the serial checks out). I am sure more seasoned collectors will be along shortly...

I agree too, the hands looks a little too white, but in general looks like a decent piece imo

Definately relumed indexes and hands (or might be the lighting), but the biggest issue as I see it is the numerous small white spots on the dial. Water damage?

Ultra rare "Chicken Pox" dial. :D

Nice looking watch overall. If price is reasonable given the issues, this could be a nice daily wearer.

Am I the only one liking the comor of the lume? If it is a relume, it is not the worst I have seen...

I think that many of us like the color of the lume, which is exactly why some people are suggesting it is a re-lume.

The hour counter hand looks reset to zero to me, I don’t see it

If you take a close look at the last pic you'll see that the chrono hand is not centered at the 12 o'clock index - otherwise I need my eyes checked

Ahh, the chrono hand is misaligned. When people say chrono creep it usually refers to the hour recorder advancing even if the chrono isn’t activated, confusing, I know :)

This is what I understood as well. Learning something new every day. ;)

The dial damage or patina on a Speedmaster dial isn't to my liking but I can see how you may like it. The dust cover has what looks like rust on it. Perhaps reflection from "that" strap but I think it's corrosion. The caseback has what looks like pitting inside and the outer ring of the movement also has what looks like corrosion. Have you better pictures?
To me the lume is pleasing whatever may have been done in the past. A service would fix the creep issues and anything unknown.

All in all as suggested by others I think this is a sympathetically restored water damaged watch. The dust cover, the spotting on the dial and the strong suspicion of a relume suggest it to me. Its more common than not that untouched Ed Whites have lume which is ill matched in some way, often the chrono second is darker than the rest for instance. Matching lume isn't a red flag of course, but taken in context with the other dial features here suggests the intervention of J Hyman or similar. The colour is lovely, but a little suspiciously too even and also rather more like the deep burnt ochre shade radium lume goes. It is a good looking watch but the price should reflect the likely lack of originality. I would also want the movement checked out to see there isn't hidden rust.

Thank you so much for all of the replies. There has been some reluming/matching, which seems to be fairly well done. It is quite hard to find an Ed White in good condition nowadays for a reasonable price...unfortunate for want to be collectors but nice for those who have.

Nice looking watch regardless of relume. I believe the dial is the A6bis with asymmetric T's.
I think the 63 Ed's deserve more of a premium, at least vs the 65's.

IMHO the prices for the watches of this C24 German dealer are far to high and I don´t like the quality of this prepped watch, just my 2c
