image.jpg So, I figured my best chance was to solicit the help of what undoubtably is the best informed group of universal collectors on the web. And, since they were nowhere to be found I am turning to you....(ok, bad joke). Here is my impossible request. I have a solid gold cal 281 twisted lug tri-compax With an ok condition original dial. Several of you watched the auction and speculated on my gamble. I really like the watch but would love to find another better condition example Or replacement dial. My ask is simple - are any of you aware of one floating around?

Why would you want to replace that one? It has character!

Seriously, any old dials for that caliber are going to be in worse condition, fit the wrong case, or be redials. If you found a nice minty one, the price would be through the roof.

Enjoy the beauty you hold in your hands,

Egg-zackly! If you want a new watch, go buy one. Your UG looks to be in nicely aged shape. Most of these are much worse.

    Hi all,
this is all good advice. My dial is flaking some so was exploring the option of picking up a second. I have been collecting tri-compaxes for years and spent several years looking for one of these. Had hoped to find one with a bit cleaner dial. I think the dial on Bain's is a good bit crisper. That being said, I will leave mine as is. This is all probably driven by a longing in my heart as I have sold two tris to forum members over the last six months.
Thanks all for helping me with a reality check.

Brent, I don't know whether this helps, but that black one went to a very loving home. :)

oh, and I am wearing my new JLC grande GMT reverso today. I used the funds from the black tri sale to help get it so I am not too terribly sad.

That's what they say - the way to get over one is to find another. Works with women as well as watches. Boats too.
