Welcome, but something doesnt add up here

With a date, it should be cal 561 - is 560 actually stamped on the movement?

From the photo, it seems to me to read 18 million, so thats 1962, which ties in nicely with the 62 stamped inside the case back

The case itself reminds me of a constellation case, but could have been used for seamasters as well

The photo of the movement is poor, do you have more?, and specifically a photo of the stamped writing obscured by the rotor - it looks to me that that is a Chronometer part, and should not be on this watch, but i could be wrong here

    Cheers, paul

Second hand is way short too, as far as the movement, the 560 might be ok for that reference (even though the ODB says it should have a 562)

560 has date as well, the 55x series were the non-date

The 560 cal might be because this watch was a US market (17jewels) as there were substantial customs duties on watches over 17 jewels to the US. But I could be wrong.

The pictures are the only 2 that my watch maker sent me while I had in in for service, while in he performed the following
    Overhaul, high-grade Swiss automatic
    Calendar function servicing
    Replace spoiled auto-reverser wheel
Replace stem (previously cut too short to work properly)
    Replace broken mainspring
    Hairspring repairs
Also he iformed me of the number of the case and s/n off the movement

From what I have read so far is that the 560's are rare so I am in search of all I can find out about this watch

    Thanks All :O)

I am pretty sure that this watch is legit - info provided on the papers back it up...

the second hand is wrong (too short), but this is an easy fix

Some collectors (including me) don't like a Seamaster without a Seamonster on back.

    Older models don't count.

Is it wise to keep this watch on a winder?

No. If you wear it every day your wrist will keep it properly wound.

Unless you're talking about something very difficult to set, like a perpetual calendar, my opinion is that there is no reason to run a watch that isn't being worn.

Just causes unnecessary wear and may hasten the day it needs further service.
