I am a relative newbie here. I am interested in getting a pie pan Constellation. I see this one on Ebay up for auction right now that looks promising. Seller claims everything is original (case was never polished and dial was never touched) except for the re-lumed hands. I was hoping any one of you season members help me out by taking a look. What do you guys think? Does it look legit?

I am not so sure about the dial... I would have thought that the crosshairs extended through the 3, 6, 9 and 12 dots, not only to them. @hoipolloi - does this look like a redial to you?

I'd like to see another photo of the dial straight on.

The seller does not have a straight frontal uploaded. This is the most straight he has up.

I thought the rule was they extend through on dome dials and just up to the markers on pie pans. Only repeating what i’ve read on here somewhere.

I mean to/through the painted markers, not the applied ones. I don't know, it just looks a bit off to me, but I may be wrong.

    I have the same reference.

The lume dots on the OP's watch appear quite fresh to me.
The minute markers also seem a bit further from the Pie-pan "edge"

...And the dial is extremely bright. I'd be more than surprised if the watch in the OP wasn't re-lacquered, so that is at least one thing not disclosed by the seller (the relume was, to be fair). @Au79 would you mind posting a link?

Several of the pictures have a heavy blue cast, which tends to give it a brighter look.

I’ve the same watch just a little older before they began adding the “officially certified” language.

Also - the one you’re looking at is in better condition.

The reason I mention condition is because I’d start to worry about price. I always say you can never over pay for a great example but I don’t think that’s true anymore.

Specifically, this watch never would’ve sold for more than 1000USD as recently as 2 or 3 years ago.

    Something to consider.

Anyway, enough of my babbling and good luck.

Thanks to all of you for your insight. I guess the authenticity sorta checks out but there are definite issues with the watch. I agree with citizenrich that now that it is above $1300, does the price match the condition? With less than 3 hours left in the auction, it is decision time for me. I will see how high the bidding goes and decide. Thanks again!

@Au79 - @ 1300 (or, a wee bit higher) I think it’s probably a good deal or at least a very fair deal. This is the first time I’ve ever given price advice on the Bored so I’m not sure if that’s allowed but I guess I might find out lolzzzz

Anyway - above 1500 is where I’d really start questioning the situation...

The watch is in good condition.

Oh? Are we breaking OF rules? How exciting!

Anyhow, thanks for the advice. Price advice is just that. An advice. It is for me to take or leave so if OF police is reading this post, leave my man citizenrich alone.

Your watch is different and is usually valued less because of the slightly smaller dial and the not-as-unique style.

The dog-legged watch in the OP is a more sought after model. Similar watches have sold here on OF for near or above $2000 for as far as 5 years ago.

Regarding price discussion, it is one of the most prized value of this forum, IMO. :)

Does the absence of date change the value? I have seen some models with date and this one is time only.

Not really. Quite a few people actually prefer the symmetry of a no-date dial and would pay even more than the date model.

This piepan crosshair watch is way less common than the date models so it's no surprise if highly valued in great condition.

I have some reservation about this particular watch though, due to the relumes and the unusually clean dial. If the dial is originally that clean, it wouldn't need no relumes.

Smaller? I thought these were both 34mm?

Values less? How much less - I paid 688 all-in, 18 months ago. Like that much less??

2000 for a stainless Connie? Um, no thank you lolzz

No offense but I’ll take 3 of mine vs. 1 of yours
