I’m a new member. What does everyone think of this? Does it look genuine? Re-dial? I can’t find much on the web for calibre 360 from 1947. I see some with gold stick markers but not diamond markers like this? Any information would be appreciated. I’m done some research but can’t find a vintage Omega with a similar dial, small gold plated diamonds as markers instead of baton indicators. Could it be a redial? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Mike

    Welcome!

I am not a not a specialist of the watches with this movement, but it looks ok for me. The script and the sub second lignes look good. And the dial paint seems to have some nice original texture.

It is an American cased Omega by the way.

That movement is from later than 1947, 1949 would be my guess. Earlier than that the movements didn't have the 3 digit codes. I have my doubts that is original. A redial would be my guess, it is almost too clean and the 12 looks a bit wonky.

What you've got is an Omega movement in a Wadsworth case. Not at all uncommon at the time because of the import taxes into America on completed watches. The 11m serial number is going to put you into 1948 but could be as late as 53. As for the dial - it looks too good not to have been refinished at some point in its life.

As I mentioned above, if Ranfft is to be believed, it can't be any earlier than 1949 for it was then that the 28 movement was rebranded as 360 (and the 30T2 was rebranded as 260). This movement is clearly marked 360, thus it is a 28mm dia movement without any shock protection. I have a similar watch with a 260 movement on a 11.57m serial which is hallmarked 1949 so my feeling is that this watch is from that year also. I could be wrong about the dial, it could be just fine but I haven't seen enough like that to be sure either way to be honest.

    Ah fair enough, that happens.

I would never openly defy the great Dr.Ranfft ... you know how (earlier for sure) serial numbers go, though. They're rarely tied down well to one year. If you combine your reference and mine, it could span 49-53 (though 49-50is more likely).

Yes I agree, it could be later, movements weren't always cased immediately. It is a shame that it is plated rather than solid as a year hallmark is always handy for dating.

I am not sure the dial is original. But I do not see anything wrong with the 12 - and if the dial has been repainted, the markers are still the same! I do not thing as well that the dial is too good to be true: it happens and the watch is in an overall great condition.

By the way, I would like to know if there is a "Swiss made" at the button of the dial.
