Sorry I wouldn’t call it old and it’s not that rare…

late 70’s mid 80’s piece. Gold plated. If you look on the sticker on the movement the serial number is there and will tell you approx date with a little google use. I’m guessing in the 40 millions.

the inside of the caseback has the model number.

This is in the middle of the quartz crisis era and used a cheaper small movement in a cheap to make case with a simple dial. Unfortunately these are barely worth a few hundred US.

Just out of curiosity what is the serial number? And what does the inside of the caseback say…

There is a small chance it’s not actually an omega case and dial…

I do not think Omega, even in its worst years, has ever used a plastic movement spacer for a tiny movement.

I think it could be a total fake

I think it’s a Calibre 1100 or 1070.

I have seen one like this before, but can’t for the life of me remember where. Wherever it was, there was also a discussion about the likelihood that the watch left Switzerland with such a small movement in such a big spacer.

If it left Switzerland at all..... No value in my book.

That dial doesn't looks good to me, it is a little bit strange looking.
The movement is very tiny...

If you can't find images in Google, it has a reason. That reason is not, that it is very rare. Rare watches are documented. And Google is not your friend, if you want to buy a vintage/rare/brand name watch. There is a lot more involved than looking at pictures online.

With you. I suspect someone's put a movement out of a scrapped womans watch (these seem to show up in gold watches) and stuffed it in a fake case/dial.

That is completely false. Omega used plastic movement spacers in a number of watches, in particular those with much smaller movements than the case, which they did on a number of watches. Like this one...

Comparing the watch posted by the OP, with the one you posted @Archer, there appears to be a gulf in terms of quality, fit, and finish.

That looks perfectly genuine and also perfectly horrible. It is often best to not look to closely at much of what was produced by Bienne between ~1975 and 1985 as you might not like what you see. There are notable exceptions to that rule of course. I think of that era as the Dark Ages.

I don't know if Archer was actually weighing in on the OP's watches correctness, just that Omega did use some big spacers and tiny movements.

Oh for sure! Was just an observation on my part - thinking out loud if you will. 😀

Indeed I was not - the photos aren't good enough for me to make any sort of judgement. You will note that I only quoted the portion of the post that spoke about spacers, that was clearly incorrect.

I simply don't want people to assume that any Omega with a plastic spacer was automatically fake, as the poster I responded to seemed to be indicating, because this is not a "tell" in any way.
