Help with my first Omega

Hi everybody,

I have been searching for some weeks now in order to buy my first vintage Omega. I'm gonna start out fairly modest and (I think) I have decided on the model 14701. I have found this one, which I think looks quite nice. I like the linnen dial, it has the cal. 562 and I think it looks non-refurbished. But can you help me decide if it is a reasonable buy at the price? It costs about 1.000 euro. Thank you very much in advance!

Alternatively, I'm considering this one, but it doesn't have the linnen dial and is also a bit more expensive:

I suspect that the second one is a re-dial. At the very least, the lume has been removed.

The first one is quite expensive for the condition, obviously, but looks generally legit at first glance, although I haven't checked to see if all the parts are consistent. This could be a trick of the lighting, but it appears that the movement may have been repaired with a replacement rotor (looks like gold-colored vs. copper-colored plating in the photo). You could double-check this if it bothers you. If you are serious about the watch, you might want to double-check that this caliber and serial are correct for this reference.

If I were in your position I’d have a careful trawl through eBay to compare conditions and prices of vintage Seamasters - both for sale and sold.

My initial view is that these watches are about 30-40% up on what I’d expect but I haven’t done a price comparison check for some time.

The Omega font at the top looks later era than the Seamaster at the bottom, and the Automatic text looks slightly too large in comparison to the Omega text. Pretty convinced this is a redial, maybe a pad print.
