I had £500 burning a hole in my pocket for a few weeks whilst looking for a nice vintage Seamaster 600 (my first vintage Omega) but I was looking in a local UK pawn shop when I spotted this vintage Omega and thought how nice it looked so bought it on the spot. I have been looking on this forum for a few days researching the watch and have a few concerns / queries that you knowledgeable people maybe able to help with. The main one is the condition of the inside. It has what looks like corrosion or staining. Would this be a problem or would I be able to get this easily sorted when I get it serviced? Also the dial looks like it has been redone. The cross lines look too thick and do not match up with the markers. The case has pitting and some scratches but this does not bother me as I am looking for a vintage looking watch. The crown is worn and there is scratching on the hands. Looking at the serial number it dates from 1953 / 54. Cal 354. Case 2648-4 SC. Gold Capped. I noticed there is no Swiss Made on the dial. I have 7 days option to return the watch so I now need to decide weather to keep it or return and start hunting again. If you guys can help with any info on the watch it would be gratefully received.
Return it. Dial has been very badly refinished, case is in pretty bad shape, overly polished and worn, back is quite pitted. A parts watch only.
Thank God there is a return policy! Look at the poor stars on the case back! Some have almost been polished out of existence!
Welcome @BBJohn As others have suggested - it’s not only a redial but a fantasy redial. Take it back and put your money towards something decent. You’ve dodged a bullet since you can return it.
Thanks for all the replies so far. Looks like I had better return it asap or they may do a runner with my cash.
Sorry … It looks like my Cat did the redial ………and while He’s a talented Cat,… its still bloody awful
