    Hi guys!

Recently i bought a vintage Omega on Ebay and i have brought it to a watchmaker to see if all parts are original and i was told that the dial might have been refinished.

-The watchmaker pointed out that there could be some adhesive left behind underneath the star on the logo.
-Upon closer inspection he said that the indices looks a little off.
-The crown is not signed, does it mean that it is after-market?

I am still trying to learn about vintage watches and hence i am hoping that the knowledgeable members of this forum can help me identify whether this the dial has been refinished or this is actually a complete franken watch. Thank you so much!

The indices at 12 do look off but it is hard to tell from your photograph.

Can you post a picture straight on to the watch? ie not at an angle.

The crown should be signed and I also can see residue under the star - but it is hard to tell from the photo.

Here is an upright photo. The 12 0 clock marker does seem quite off.

A bit of a google image search throws up a few of these, but the model with tritium markers and hands seems to be much more common.

This could be correct, but I'm struggling to find enough samples to compare with.

You probably need to spend some time digging out examples, deep in google image search, and then comparing and contrasting... I know it's not the most exciting, but that's how you get to know what's right/wrong... lots of research :)

The crown is definitely after market, but replacing that isn't really a huge issue, or concern (someone just used a crown they had... not all that uncommon).

I don't know if its my eyes or the image angle, but the dial looks as if it has shifted clockwise.

Hey! Thank you for your input! The closest i can find are the images below. The ones with dauphine hands are harder to find to be honest.

Thank your for your input! I have taken added photo below. I cant really make up my mind on whether the dial has been shifted or it is because the acrylic crystal is casting some uneven reflection onto the dial. The dial sure does look a bit off under certain lighting. 20170411_111307.jpg

In the other picture, number 7 is not centered of the date window, would you take a few more pics with the hands away from it?

I think you will be the judge, everyday when day changes, you will see if the day is centered or not. If it is off like number 7 in that picture all the time, it means the dial was moved clockwise a bit or something is wrong with the date mechanism.

Thank you! That is good advice indeed. Might be the angle of the photo that made the 7 looked slightly off. The date looks fine to me under normal lighting. To be honest i think it might be the crystal contorting the dial at some angle? Not entirely sure.

I can't see a problem. The index marks align well, to my eye.

How much would it bother you to find out it was a very good redial?
The experienced collectors here can't be definite, so it may be wise to simply enjoy your vintage watch just the way it is.

Honestly i would say it bothers me if it is an obvious and poorly done redial. After posting on this forum it seems it is not too bad after all! I will most definitely enjoy this piece! Thank you!

I struggle to find anything wrong with the dial. As Hoipolloi mentions, the date could be a bit off, but taking off the dial or taking apart the movement will confirm that.

Also, for future reference, please don't post "bump" if you're not getting responses 10 minutes after you post asking for help.

This is no ones job, and I know that enthusiasm takes over, but it comes across as kinda rude buddy. ;)

Now go enjoy that watch!
