    Hi guys!
This is my first post here, but Ive been collecting Omegas for a while now.
I bought this rather cheap today, but arent sure what it is. I cant, for the life of me, figure out how to open the case either.

I would appreciate all the help i can get :)

May I recommend having a watchmaker open it?

You've got the booklet there, can you post pictures of the info given there? There will possibly be the reference and serial numbers of a watch.....if you're lucky, your watch ;)

266 probably at a guess i have a similar watch by your monogram looks like they belonged to the same gentleman hehe...
failing that could be a 268?

but yea basically no one knows unless you open it tho! or @cristos71 it's in your booklet!

nice faint two tone dial too however *suspicious* a little too clean for a powder dial? Need better / more photographs! but you DO have a rare green box! lots in red uncommon in green.. How cheap is cheap?!

Thanks for the quick response guys!
The booklet is empty so I didnt get any clues from reading that.
I dont know if the dial is redone. I bought the watch for about 350 dollars from the daugther of a late watchmaker. This was part of his personal collection.
And yes I know its gold :)

@FullyWound Nice watch by the way! Kind of weird that the date and monogram is so similar :)

One more question; Does the case back look weird? I cant find anything similar when browsing similar watches.

Would you take a straight-on photo of back?

It's an Omega 'Tresor', meaning 'treasure', from around 1955, with a sharp 14k case and pristine cal 266 movement. Nice, original dial with the customary flat top A. Uncommon to have complete box, papers and watch together as an ensemble, and better with the uncommon green box. All together, a very nice combination to have :)

Is the OP watch an original dial?! Although the pics aren't very good quality, it looks refinished all day long to me.

Back to the classroom for me :whipped:

    Your pictures are better!
Both are dandies and did well to elicit a response from Desmond, a well-respected worldwide authority!

OPs dial has been redone IMO, still a very nice watch though. Can't wait to see the motor.

    Thanks for the overwhelming response!
Im terrible at taking pictures but will try to take some more this afternoon. Im taking the watch to a watchmaker friend of mine today and will get his opinion as well. He`s dealing in vintage watches and can take a closer look at the dial.

I will keep you posted! :)

    A little update:
After my trip to the watchmaker he opened the back case and I found the following:
    - Cal. 266
    - Serialnumber 14 4** ***
    - So from about 1954
    - Confirmed 14k gold, and hallmarked with "a funky little squirrel" @FullyWound

I also said he thought the dial was original, but couldnt be 100% sure.
I will try to upload a couple of pictures later this afternoon/evening.

Nice catch on the dial, I didn't see it, too complex of a finish.
I only noticed the hand length, was waiting for Hoi to jump in!
