Hi everyone, can anyone help with a rough value on this constellation I have inherited. Had various wildly different values from jewellers! Model number is 136302 and I think the hallmark is 1961. Looks hardly worn. I have tried to look for one the same on the www. for hours but no joy, most have more writing on the dial and would love to know more about it.

Hi there! I'm far from expert at these matters, but I'm awake here in my time zone. I suspect that once the gurus see your post, they will want to know the watch's caliber and serial numbers. Those can be found when you open up the back of the watch. In the one such photo you've shared, both these data points are obscured. You might need to rotate the component that is covering these numbers. The caliber will be beneath a small Omega symbol. The serial will be a number in the tens of millions.

That being said, the watch appears to be 18k solid gold which is valuable! Functioning and in nice condition, it should be worth a couple thousand USD.

    What a lovely inheritance!

You also have a very nice and correct buckle attached to your strap, I assume also in solid gold?

    Nice Connie
Welcome and congratulations on your inheritance

The serial ties in with the hallmark
    http://ialreadyhaveawatch.com/watch-articles/omega/omega-serial-numbers-by-year/

The 'writing' is correct for this period - on what looks like a gold dial too.
Case is in good condition but the lugs might be a little polished through use as the bezel is still well defined.
The English cases were often slightly different to the Swiss versions but unlike some other locally made cases, of equal quality.

Being English (not Swiss) affects the value slightly
Value depends on whether you want a value for sale or insurance.
As a dome dial, around £2k for sale or £3k for insurance.
Would be interesting to hear what the jewelers told you the value was.

If your going to keep and wear the watch it will need a service - the date shouldn't be changing at 9pm.

British version of Constellation ref. 14393. Must be worth 1.500€ to 2.500€.
Google it up or eBay it up.

Interesting that the dial has no minute markers but it doesn't look to have beeen cleaned.
As as high end dress watch it could have been supplied that way.
Here's my no date Swiss version for comparison.

That's one damn sexy Denison. Killer buckle too, those are not generally with the watch.

Thanks for your detailed reply, I have been offered as low as 675 quid! Had a few much higher offers but still tempted to keep it as it's so nice.

675! Someone's looking to quickly triple their money for not much work

Is the buckle 18kt? IIRC mine is the UK's finest 9K :D

    You
Just had look, mine is 9 too! I think these people think I was born yesterday on the value of it. I know people need to make a profit but that's crazy! Saying that ebays fees are up there too.

It is a 18K dennsion in very good condition, I think it may also be a deluxe (mean solid gold dial).

Value is around £2000 as a private seller I sold one last year for £1850 in very good condition right here on OF, more like £3000 from a dealer.

The buckle is 9K, the buckle is made by montal in Birmingham

It's a rare watch and in great shape, if you do want to sell you'd be better off trying to find it a new home from our community instead of a dealer

The British constellation are remarkable watches and under appreciated at the moment, that wont last forever! I'm picking my own 18K Dennison deluxe pie pan up from Sts where they have just made me a new 18ak Milanese bracelet using the original tooling equipment from the 1960's

    Thanks tom

The more you find out about that watch, the less you'll feel like selling it. There's something special about anything top quality that comes to you free. I would keep it and enjoy owning it, just my tuppence worth.

Plus its a solid investment.. Two grand today could possibly be five grand in a few years.. Plus you get to enjoy it and remember your loved ones by such a beautiful piece.. Don't sell it!!
