Hello all, I've been reading and researching here for a few days and find it very informative and a friendly bunch of people. I'm looking to get a late 50's or early 60's Omega and found a few Seamasters for sale locally, but would like some opinions before I check this one out to see if it's worth looking at more closely.

Also, any thoughts on the price would be appreciated. This store has been around for a while and does have a 1 yr parts and labour warranty. Also, it is in Canadian dollars.

    Their description:

    Mens' Omega Seamaster
Original yellow gold filled case and stainless steel backing with a black leather strap, manual wind movement,
    17 jewels, caliber# 610, movement# 20639614, case# 14384 62 SC.
    (Product Code #JK1E703E)
    $495.00

I believe it is gold capped case, but do the dial and hands look original? Most I've seen have some lume on the hands and these do not.

There are more photos of the watch and movement in the link:

Thanks for any feedback. These vintage watches are starting to grow on me...

Hi, I can't say much about the model but, I think it's a redial, the second hand is too short, the minute hand is too long and the crown is probably not right either so that would be enough to put me off this watch and look for something better. Vintage watches are cool. Good luck with your search.

Yes IMO it is a redial. While 610 is a fine movement, I think the Automatic 5XX or 75X would be a better candidate. (....or get 354 bumper Seamaster )

I'd bet it's a later service replacement dial judging by the fonts. The corners of the lugs have been polished too much. At $300 it's just okay, but at nearly $500 a better original example can be found.

Great info thanks everyone. The hands on this one really don't look right to me either.

Yes, I have been looking thru the sales section here too, just thought it might be good to look local (don't you hate waiting for shipping?) :). Some of the for sale links are nice so I will check them out more closely.

    I will continue the hunt!

Nope, it's a re painted dial. The M, E and G in Omega are way off

And the Seamaster script is all wrong too

The minute track is messy too
