I spotted this listing for a seamaster 600 on a Finnish auction site for 600 euros (670 dollars). Im wondering if the dial is a re-dial since it's in suspicously good condition. I've asked the seller for pictures of the movement and the inner caseback, as adviced on the forums. The listing says the movement caliber is 601 and it has been serviced in 2014 with original omega parts. If the movement matches the case is this a good deal?
The dial looks good to me. I really don't know about the price, it seems high but I haven't paid much attention to these models.
Finally I was able to get the pictures of the caseback and the movement. Thoughts on the condition and originality?
A lot of 600s and Seamaster 30s from the 60s are in very good nick when it comes to their dials. It seems Omega at some point decided to spend more money on dial print than they had done before, as a lot of 40-50s dials were crap.
A nice watch. The 601 was one of Omegas simplest and reliable movements, and I think, most attractive. Dials from this period have held up much better than earlier ones, especially those from cold climates (northern Europe etc). Caseback has some sweat/corrosion marks from a nylon strap but it's not a deal breaker. Everything looks OK to me, and if I wanted this one the price would not matter. Go on a diet of baked beans for a month and you won't even think about the extra dollars.
Northern Europe huh? I quess that explains the condition Thank you everyone for your replies I really apreciate it! Asked the seller to give me a little discount so we'll see how that goes
