    Hi goodfolks.

Found this old zenith in an antique store and thought I might buy it. What is meant to stand in?
    Is it worth 180 USD?
    Thanks, and happy easter

If it winds by rotating the bezel, it is a dashboard clock, for an old car.
I've no idea of price. Clock repairers are harder to find than watch repairers.
Looks to be in excellent nick. Does it work?

It worked fine! And the winding worked as well.
Apart from the nudge in the glass is looked pristine.

I've seen dashboard clocks sell for more than that, Zenith is a fine brand, & it's in good condition(probably). I'd be tempted to buy.
If you do, try & get it serviced sometime.

What's that hole above the Zenith logo for?

    Power indicator?

@Masterofkarate, does it wind via the bezel?

    I'd say yes to both.

    Nice clock – and cheap!

Yes, it winded when I rotated the bezel counterclockwise. It also did rotate clockwise. Don't know what it did.
At first, the hole above zenith logo was red, but it turned white when after a while. could not get it back to red and would not fickle to much without knowing more.
Buying this first thing Saturday:) Along with some excelsior park yachting stop watches with tags, he had lying around.

You did well. Put it on a nice wood panel and you have a cool and useful desk clock.

Sounds like the hole is a power indicator: white means fully wound, red unwound.

It looks like it is designed for a bulkhead, rather than a dashboard.

Usually the hole in the dial indicates day/night. Sometimes Red or Black. You see it a lot on electric clocks from the 30s. If it were electric it could also be a power indicator but since it isn’t..

Thanks for all replies. I did end up getting this piece and now to my next project. inserting it into a wooden stand.

My father has a lot of old Burmese teak lying around, from old wooden ships. I found this old chunk that I think would be perfect.

What shape do you guys think the wooden stand should have? I have pretty free to shape it as I want considering the size of the teak block:)

I wouldn't do a thing to that teak block except cut a cavity for the clock.

You will not be able to match that aged finish on any cuts that you make.

I'd consider mounting it right where it sits in the second pic. Maybe a little further to left, but not centered. It would look awesome.

That's a cool idea! Will definitively consider leaving it as is. I guess it comes down to if I would like a rustic vs a clean finish.

A few questions about the finish: do you plan to remove the existing finish? if not, do you know what currently there? If you plan to coat the existing finish with another they may interact in unintended ways.

I like your idea @Masterofkarate  I just went to a second hand shop
