I've just been offered a new Speedyorite at an AD in Madrid. Out the door, after VAT refund and conversion to USD price is 5500. I realize I will make the final decision, but do you guys think this is a fair price? Any downside to me buying outside the U.S.? Need to decide by tomorrow, on a plane home Saturday. Thanks for any input.
If the meteorite dial is your thing that's a very good deal. You'll easily get your money back if you later decide to move on. I'm not sure about customs / duties if you wear it back and pack the box/paper/certificate/etc., as any fees later on could ruin the value proposition, but at $5500 USD straight you wont be sorry. Post pics!
I can't see any downside to buying outside US if you walk away with an international warranty card. Of course, should you decide to declare your watch on entry to the US, you will likely be subject to customs duty.
It will obviously be difficult to deal with that AD if it turns out there are any issues with the watch down the line, but I presume an AD local to you would liaise with Omega for you over any in-warranty matters..?
If there are no additional catches, go for it! Not just a good price, but a good price for a lovely watch.
Normally we should get good price like this in Madrid from time to time . This is one of the most beauty LE IMHO .
Is this a serious question?? I keep looking over my shoulder for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and tell me I've been 'punked'... If you're looking for a speediorite then it's an outstanding deal!!! If not, then it's meaningless... But rest assured that price is less than the cost of just the dial itself...
Bad news. Between my limited Spanish and their limited English there was a miscommunication regarding the price. Their price quoted to me was including the VAT refund. I thought the price was before the VAT refund. That coupled with the US duty I would pay on it took it over what I was willing to spend. BUMMER. The search continues. I know George had one coming in. Maybe........
