help with a crystal replacement

I am pretty new to this hobby and I am working on a pretty inexpensive watch for my wife that has a lot of sentimental value. It is not branded in anyway as it was a retirement watch that her dad was given (ISA K63 quartz movement) when he retired from Boeing.

The crystal in this was watch was broken and I am having trouble finding the correct replacement. I pieced together the old crystal as best I could and got a rough measurement of 30.5 and it was 1.3mm thick. I ordered a new crystal of this size but when trying to press it in it wouldn't sit flat on side was always a little higher than the other. I ended up breaking that crystal and thought it was because I hadn't changed the gasket and I was applying to much force. I was using Esslinger's deluxe crystal and case back press.

I took a measurement of the case (31.06mm with my calipers) and ordered a gasket to fit 31mm external diameter with 30mm internal diameter with a 30mm crystal. Upon receiving this they both seem to be too small, both the crystal and the gasket don't fit well and before I order any more parts I wanted some assistance.

Sounds as though there is a neoprene or plastic gasket retainer for the crystal that stayed in the bezel when the old crystal was removed. That gasket became “crimped” when the new crystal was inserted. That gasket should be replaced, along with the correct crystal. By the time you buy the parts (again) and pay the shipping, you might have been better off having a watchmaker do it for you.

here are some photos, I do have the gasket removed. I had a new gasket that was 31mm external diameter but it seemed too small.
