Hi all, I've been looking for a black dial Omega in this style for a while now and have come across this piece which is currently for sale. What I know about it so far: Year: 1952 Movement: Cal. 265 Ref: 2639 Case size: 36mm without crown The dial is immaculate and the seller claims it's original. I'm convinced but after consulting a few others, opinions are divided. Hands may have been relumed as well. As I'm a noob, my eye is untrained and as such I would appreciate any counsel! Cheers!
With a 13 million serial number I believe the dial should have a raised Omega logo and not a printed one, IMHO.
I've pulled the trigger so wrist shots are imminent or should I say whenever the watch arrives from the other side of the world! Is anyone able to share insights into the Cal. 265? Desk research tells me it's quite the workhorse and parts are easy to come by for servicing?
Congrats! Nice watch. The movement is a descendant of the 30t2. I believe parts are easy to come by. And I wouldn't be too concerned with the crown. Enjoy your new watch.
As promised. I'm quite pleased with the purchase. There are some condensation bubbles on the inside of the crystal but apparently dropping the watch in a bowl of brown rice overnight with the crown out should clear that up
I know they aren't great photos but the best my iPhone can take at the moment. As disclosed by the seller there is some visible damage to the caseback from a Perlon strap.
