Hello! I stumbled upon this awesome automatic Seamaster in a local jewelery store but have trouble to identify reference and year, anybody who can help? Also, what do you think would be a fair price for this? It's offered for about $1000. Thanks!
Have the store open the case for you so you can take photos of inside the case back and of the movement.
Circa 1969-1970 sparkle dial model. Gold capped maybe, hard to tell? I too think it vastly overpriced
Reference 166.067 from 1969 - 1973. https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-omega-st-166-0067 Probably not, the 166.067 case does have the rounded lugs, and the gold cap is still intact. Very overpriced though.
Fair to who? You or the seller? Remember it's a bricks and mortar store with rent/staff/insurance etc overheads so it won't be as cheap as a pickup on eBay. Try making an offer you can afford and are comfortable with (without low balling) and see if they will negotiate.
Case looks to be in good shape, as gold cap appears to be intact and radial finish on the caseback (which also wears very easily) is still present. The rounded shape, as noted above, is by design. That said, I don't think it's a very sought-after reference, and the gold cap usually depresses the price even when it's in good shape. Its value to you is for you to decide, but I think you might have trouble finding another buyer for it at that price.
It's actually pretty pristine True. These are a hard sell due to the rounded shape - they are uncommonly cheap for an Omega of that size with a 55X movement.
I've seen a few of these pieces in person in steel - very cool and underrated. cal 565 were in the models I saw? great movements and very undervalued for the price (i agree 1000 usd seems overpriced)
