Hello everyone I’ve been wanting to acquire a vintage sea master for quite some time I was in an antique shop and pulled the trigger on one that I love the patina on. I was wondering if anyone can educate me of its Authenticity and any other information on the watch. It’s a seamaster calendar

It’s genuine but unfortunately the dial has been repainted. This was a fairly common thing to do decades ago but collectors value originality so it has a significant impact on value and collectability.

As long as it was fairly cheap there’s no reason it can be enjoyed if you like it. However, if you end up going deeper into vintage watches it will almost certainly be an issue.

Thanks for the help I paid 400 for it. It’s my first time buying a vintage watch I don’t plan on selling it but it’s great to know and next time I’ll post here first I’m just glad it’s authentic lol

£400 or €/$ etc?

Either way I’d say that’s not cheap, nor I assume is it going to be a financial disaster. It’s what commonly referred to as the newb tax. Certainly a good idea to start a thread here for any subsequent purchases
