I believe I have one of the first versions of the UG Compax with dauphine hands and 130 movement (breguet hairspring).

I think it may be transitional but I am unable to confirm it. I cant see a serial of model number on back it may have been polished off. have a question regarding the dial and would like an expert opinion or help in identifying this model, year of issue and serial number range.

The guesstimate from a UG collector was 1962 with a serial of 2.2 - 2.3 million.

The number 9 on the hour register (bottom register) seems to be different to the style that I have seen on most UG's. Is there a way of determining if a dial has been re-done ?

    thanks in advance ...

Can I call Dibs even before the actual purchase by the owner?

It's a way of indicating the forum member wishes right of first refusal should you decide to sell the piece. Usually "called" after the member has actually acquired said piece...

aaaaahhhh! silly me, should have known.

Well, this piece is part of my limited collection of UG's and I would consider a trade on it if there is interest. I am after an older UG tri-compax moonphase in steel but would consider gp.

buba, you found it ... I knew you would. So the reference is 22706/1 which places it around 1962 (transitional compax). the hands look different (hour and minute), strangely the chrono second hand is black against black like mine. i would like to know if the font on 12 hour register is correct (non curved 9) ...

    Ciao D.
    Ciao
    A.

As requested by A, translation of above ...

that looks like the reference for your watch.

Model number has 5 digits. The numbers start with 22 (for steel), the third is a 7 (movement caliber V72 referred to as caliber 130 by UG which was fitted with a breguet hairspring or caliber 85 fitted with a flat hairspring), the last two numbers are the model reference number).

The dial has a different font and hands are also different.

The "trottoute" is black and has a counter balance (extended).

The dial could be one of the first versions of reference 22706. Shortly after 1963, this reference became 885103/1 ...
