Hey guys, I'm new to this and cant identify this mark on my watch, below the tachymeter lettering. Is it a scratch or water condensation? Do you know how to remove it?

How long has it been there, was it fairly sudden or a build up over time?

This model may have an AR coating on the outside of the crystal which has tarnished in that spot. If it is that, some people have had some luck with a polish to completely remove it, which may help - but you will need input from others who have done this on the correct polish to use (maybe poly watch is enough to remove the AR on sapphire - it won't remove scratches), I haven't.

Otherwise replace the crystal.

I can't tell from the pic as its blurry to see if this is damage to the sapphire crystal. Thing is, when you get enough force to damage sapphire it tends to be more tragic than that.

If you believe it is condensation, which it could be on a 1990's watch that hasn't been serviced, try leaving the crown out for 24 hours, crown up. Obviously you don't want to do this in a humid environment.

Hey! Thanks for your reply. From what I've read this model has sapphire glass, so it is possible that it has some abrasion to the AR coating. I do not know specifics has to timings because the watch was gifted to me yesterday. But the mark only appears on certain light conditions. I'll leave a cleared photo for you to see if you have any other input.
Thanks in advance

As you said its angle dependant. It may well be the AR coating.

This watch is from the 90's so the coating may well be pretty shot. Some polywatch and a decent rub might improve things. Just remember, if you spot rub you will only remove the AR coating from there. You will need to do the entire crystal for a clear look.

If its proving tougher, some diamond paste will do it.
