Just spotted this small flat spot on the case!!! Annoying isn’t the word but I guess that’s what you get for buying blind. Just after some thoughts please. Would you just leave it and except it’s a 28 year old piece or have it buffed out professionally???? Overall though, I Love the watch.

    I wouldn’t.

Looks like the watch took a hard bang to the case.

Wasn’t sure if it was a bang or a deep scratch that’s been polished out badly and unevenly

The answer to polishing is never more polishing.

It appears to me that there is evidence of a previous dent having been removed. How is it that you feel more buffing can compensate for the large amount of material having been removed during a previous event? I suggest you just leave well enough alone.

These things can annoy you if you let them annoy you, as you said overall you love the watch so i would just leave it as it is and enjoy it! Oh and post a picture from the front!

it will now drive you crazy. If you don't have an emotional attachment to this piece I recommend you offload it and find another one in better condition.

"It's just a small bump, I can live with it" most likely not.

::facepalm1:: If You are OCD you follow Seanno's advice.
If not, you look at it, smile, and say to yourself "I 've got a beauty of a watch here and I 'll leave it as is"
I 'm expecting my "Coke" Swiss only dial next week. Can 't wait.

I used to be like that 'bout my car once. But after parking my ute on building sites for over 40 years I see every dent in it as a story to tell. I do buy a new ute around every 8 to 10 years and frown at the first dent it collects. But it is just the way it is, shit happens. If it is caused by another worker I hid them up for a carton of beer to drink on Friday arvo with the rest of the blokes on site. Standard penalty on building sites. If no one on site has earned a penalty by Thursday some one will get the blame for some thing. Gotta have beers on Friday arvo.:D

Leave it alone is my advise. You will not be bothered with it after a while. Believe me. I can be OCD and you will look past this very soon.

has the watch been polished before? if not, definitely don't polish. if it has been polished before, i'm not sure it matters one way or ther other assuming the polish job won't make the watch worse (i.e., send it to someone reputable).

by the way, the number 1 thing for me these days is to find unpolished examples.

It’s already been polished at some point in its life for sure which is why I wouldn’t be against a subtle polish. Sent the pictures to Simon Freese who recently carried out a service on my vintage seamaster, I think Simon is more than capable of improving its overall appearance. Still on the fence as I only got the piece yesterday, I’ll probably see how much it annoys over the next week or two. Appreciate all the comments gents. AND YES IM A LITTLE OCD!!! Haha!!! 87B71B4D-5756-4DAC-B6AF-6EE151C1B32E.jpeg 28CEE5C4-E480-48B9-B119-D655AC063313.jpeg B6387B51-40AF-4FFD-B4FA-63154A083C20.jpeg 24309913-4E7A-4A6D-9A15-77F13FC6C053.jpeg 5E4392F8-2A73-44C9-95EF-7A41FBF2EABF.jpeg 5EC4723B-8CB8-44E5-A6E3-37175B4C8D87.jpeg 163971A5-58B6-45C3-8834-1A34068517E5.jpeg 482B104F-79C6-4BA5-86C3-9FAF2EC30490.jpeg

Just because it may have been polished before doesn't justify more polish to fix a tiny little flat spot. You'll be fine leaving it.

looks great! i totally get being ocd. end of the day, it's your watch and you should do whatever you want with it. if the spot bothers you, get rid of it. i would advice wearing it for a few months though to see if it truly bothers you. maybe if you wear it for a while you won't even notice. i made the mistake once of polishing a caseback that in retrospect probably wouldn't have bothered me in the long term because i rushed to do it immediately after i purchased the watch. cheers!

OCD is my middle name and it drives me nuts!!!

I am a firm believer in 'leave it for a week and then see if it still annoys you'. If it does and you get it polished it may still annoy you as you will keep looking at it!!

I speak from many years of experience - be it watches, classic cars, collectible pottery and glass I can OCD the lot!!
