Hell o , picked up this watch on a jumble sale is it a genuine watch or a pocket watch re fit ? has it been restored ? of any collectable value or just a mantel piece ?
Your watch is quite genuine and does not appear to be a converted pocket watch. The movement is a caliber 26.5 and the serial number dates this to ca 1930-1933. The F inside the case back indicates production in Birmingham in 1930, the anchor is for the Birmingham assay office. Dennison made cases like your 9K gold one for the UK market well into the 1960s. The dial appears to be in remarkable condition and appears to be original. These porcelain dials tend to crack and or chip. There is a small audience for these pre-war watches, but much smaller than for later Omegas.
I think it's quite attractive, in stellar condition, with styling typical for the early '30s UK market, which appeared to be rather on the conservative side compared to what was being produced on the Continent.
It is not that easy as you think to "expose" a re-cased PW movement... The seconds do not need to be at "9" with a re-cased pocket watch movement - it depends if the movement came from an open face or from a hunter case PW. Hunter case movements have the seconds at "6", so if they are re-cased properly they look like a real wristwatch (if they were not too large - there have been small ladies´ huntercased PWs small enough for an average sized wristwatch!).
