Early on in the war the Germans did play by the Geneva convention. At least when taking prisoners. Was your grandfather a officer in the French military? Generally officers where allowed to keep there possessions.

Yes he was. It’s my opinion too on the subject.
I have found a passionate in France who is going to take care of it. Quite impatient to see it works again and to wear it proundly during a Sunday lunch in front of my mother.

The bad thing is that with the discovery of that forum I have caught the virus of vintage watch... My first quest will be a Constellation for my father’s birthday. Thank you gents for your warm welcome and your good advices.

it’s highly contagious without any known cure. You can manage the symptoms with a steady flow of incoming watches....

amazing story your watch has there what a treasure. thats great you have someone fixing it. I’d feel the same way if I was in your shoes. I’m sure your mother will be very happy seeing it on your wrist working again. Thanks for sharing cheers!

Hello,
You asked me about an expertise of your watch on chrono24, I have looked at it and gave you my opinion and advises on the 22 august, you never anwered me or said 'Thanks', I took about half an hour from my time for you.
You are very rude.

Sorry 10h10, I have totaly forgot.I will follow your nice advices (same as the gentlemen above, to service the watch, change the plexi, new strap, an maybe a very light polish).
10h10 has a very nice one on chrono 24, which looks like the one from my grandfather (but his is defintely in better condition 😀
I am winting to give mine into the hand of a qualified passionate in France, probably next week, and i will keep inform of the rebirth of grand pa's compur.
Thank you all for the help.
