Help to identify strap on Seamaster

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify the strap on this Seamaster. The watch was a gift from my grandmother to my grandfather, probably in the sixties. I don't know if the strap is original so it could have been replaced over the years since then. I do love it but it's coming apart and I'm starting to consider how I might source a replacement. I haven't seen anything quite like it for sale yet but understandably the finish is likely to have altered through age and wear. Many thanks.

Really, it's just a knackered old strap where the coloured top layer is being lost as it gets worn away. Advice: dump it and go looking for a nice 18/16mm thin leather strap in in a nice warm dark brown colour with contrasting lighter brown/golden brown stitching.

And if you like exotic leathers then ostrich or lizard would be my beasts of choice.

I was about to also solicit ideas for alternatives when you answered with such thoughts - much appreciated.

Looks like a really, really worn calfskin strap. Lots of those are available that will fit that watch. Can't tell if the old strap has an Omega clasp, but if it does, make sure to save it and put it on the new strap!
