I bought this 14327 thinking it was yellow gold but beside my yellow gold Connie it looks more like rose gold. How can I confirm. Tks forum......
It's definitely rose gold. Some shades are sometimes a little harder to identify than others, but this is clear cut.
Rose Gold has a lovely reddish tone due to to copper added. Yellow Gold can acquire an antique patina but the two are pretty easily distinguishable. The watch on right is definitely RG. Very popular new BTW.
it is obvious! The difficulty in assessing rose (pink) gold is caused by the fact that this alloy developes patina differently compared to yellow gold: While yellow gold becomes darker and tends to warmer colours (sometimes with a reddish hue) rose gold becomes brighter and tends to turn a bit yellowish... if you give yellowish rose gold cases a light polish with an appropriate cloth it turns rose again. give it a try on the caseback or underside of a lug
Agree it does look like Rose gold with a lovely warm reddish color that the hands and markers also have.
Has anyone got an extract that mentioned Rose gold. I got one for the 14327 watch and it only says 18k solid gold the same as marks inside the case back.
With early watches there is no mention of gold colour on the microfiche of the archive. Later watches ( about 60s) there the information is in the case number (often called reference number), for example CD 168.023 which means yellow gold capped Seamasster DD chronometer, BA for 18K solid gold, BB for rose gold, etc.
It's worth noting that the color of RG represents a continuum ... some more, some less pink. This one is clearly RG.
